Amazing Race 3 – Leg 4: Aberdeen to Lisbon

23 Oct

The race moves to Portugal and the teams sprint for the pit stop as mega-bunching tightens up the race. And an inability to follow directions costs one team the race. As the race moves to Portugal, mega-bunching equalizes the Racers, closing up all the gaps. Teri and Ian survive to fight (with each other) another day. And I’m torn over who I wanted to see eliminated more. All in this episode of The Amazing Race.

I’ll start off with the things I enjoyed in this episode. I really don’t understand the vitriol that the couples seem to have against the Derek and Drew. They dropped to 4th place this week, but they’re still going strong. Meanwhile, Aaron & Arianne, the ring leaders of the twin hunt found themselves trailing in the final miles of the leg. Maybe they should focus more on racing and less on the Twins. Will they learn anything from this experience? Probably not, but I’m hoping to be surprised.

Ian continues to be seemingly the biggest butt in the world. He treats Terri like dirt and, as Aaron stated, he defines Ugly American. I was so hoping they would be eliminated this leg. But that hope will have to wait for another day.

And finally, in the “Tell Me Again Why You Signed Up For This Race” category, we find Heather and Eve. Between Eve whining last week about her bag being too heavy, and her inability, both last week and this week, to drive a stick, I’m left wondering why she even agreed to do this race. My only guess is that Heather wanted to do it, and Eve thought it would be “cool”. Obviously, she’s never watched the show before, or she’d know how strenuous it is.

As Mrs. Cosmic pointed out, you would think that two Harvard Law School graduates could read and understand the English language. Or perhaps that was there problem. They tried to overanalyze the meaning of the clue and got themselves in trouble. Good bye, you two. May you have a wonderful time in Sequesterville.

Note: In the episode, the captions list Flo & Zach as being in 5th place after the Roadblock. However, the episode shows John Vito & Jill leaving the Roadblock just ahead of Flo & Zach.

Which to believe? The on screen graphics, or the editing of the episode?
