Amazing Race 3 – Leg 6: Fez to Marrakech

04 Nov

More car troubles haunt the race as a team breaks down and are abandoned by their allys. Aaron is unable to drive an ATV, fighting breaks out over taxis, and the teams scramble for the Pit Stop in a desperate bid to avoid elimination. All in the next exciting episode. The teams race from Fez to Casablanca, then on to Marrakech. Car problems catch up with John Vito & Jill. Aaron and Zach have trouble driving ATVs, and an unscheduled trip out into the dessert shakes Andre & Damon’s confidence. Aaron & Arianne are unable to make up for their diesel/unleaded mistake in the last leg, and find themselves eliminated.

Where to start with this episode? Well, lets get the obvious out of the way first. Teri & Ian suck. If any psychologists want to host a forum on dysfunctional marriages, these to can be the poster children. They fight with each other constantly, and it’s amazing they can still stand each other after all these years. I wish they would get themselves eliminated, but, having taken the Fast Forward this leg, I fear that they’ll be around for a while longer. Possibly all the way to the final three. God help us.

With that out of the way, lets move on to Aaron & Arianne who spent the entire leg trying to catch up. I knew as soon as the first teams hit the train station, they were toast. It took the first 3 teams almost 5 hours to reach the train station. With Aaron & Arianne leaving the pitstop at 7:04am, they wouldn’t have hit the train station until almost 12pm. Well after the second train had left. According to outside info, the net train didn’t leave until 2:10pm, which put them an additional 2 hours behind. This means that they were 5 hours behind the lead teams, and 3 hours behind the second bunch. Too far for even the cafe bunching to save them. And with Teri & Ian grabbing the Fast Forward, there was no way for them to catch up.

Can’t say I’m really sorry to see them go. They deserved it after they’re pitiful performance last week. Although, on the annoyance scale, Teri & Ian would have been a better choice to go. But Aaron & Arianne definitely earned the right to exit from their behavior in the last several legs. Good bye you too. Hope you enjoyed Sequesterville.

The big story of the week was probably the “detainment” of Andre & Damon. They got suckered by their cab driver. I’m not sure how much time they lost, but I guess that it is less than 3 hours since all the other teams were bunched up at the cafe. Still, I’m sure it was a traumatic and stressful experience for them. I know it would be for me. Unfortunately, they’re going to find themselves in a similar situation to Aaron & Arianne in the next leg, several hours behind the pack. Hopefully they can make up some time through good airport skills and bunching. I would hate to see them get eliminated because of such unfortunate circumstances.

We will see how well Teri & Ian’s lead holds up in the next leg. And whether Andre & Damon can make up their lost time. Knowing the show, I’m sure that bunching will reel Teri & Ian back into the pack, but we won’t know if it’ll save Andre & Damon until next week.
