Leg 7: Racer Rankings
14 Jul
The racers head to southern India via a 26 hour train ride. Some racers try to get some rest, while other spend their time acting like 4th graders. A trip through a “muddy” field, an elephant ride, a few chickens, and a race to the pit stop fill this leg with plenty of excitement. And did anyone notice the fake out by the producers? How many thought this was a non elimination leg?
Read on to find out how this leg shaped my impressions of the racers.
David & Jeff
David & Jeff seem to have gotten their act together and have run two strong legs in a row. And now that they’re developing a personality, I’m starting to like them. They seem to have a very self-deprecating sense of humor, especially when they ended up at the Old Panvel Train Station. I’ll dump these two up the Love list.
Jon & Al
These two are strong racers who managed to rebound from a poor showing in the last leg to end up in 2nd place again. And I love the fact that their enjoying the race. “We’re doing the elephants, of course” was priceless. Still Love these two.
Kelly & Jon
Well, as expected from the preview, my opinion of this team has dropped again. Their back on my Hate list for there 4th grade behavior and name calling. Whether Millie could hear them or not, it was totally uncalled for. Unfortunately, I’m afraid there going to be around a while longer.
Millie & Chuck
Millie is definitely showing signs of Killer Fatigue, and it is affecting their racing ability. If I were Millie & Chuck, I’d be praying for a 36 hour pitstop so I could catch up on some rest and try to rejuvenate myself. These two are back up to the Like list since they got along better this week.
Reichen & Chip
I have very mixed feelings about these two. The last couple legs, they’ve done very well. They’ve raced strong, made good decisions, and generally been fun to watch. But the memory of their actions in earlier legs taints all the good stuff. I admire their perseverance this leg even when they knew they were in last place. As we’ve been told time and time again, never give up. So these two end up on the Undecided list. A few more good legs, and they may actually get on the good list.
Tian & Jaree
These two finally get there act together and start treating each other like human beings, and they get eliminated. And lest you think it wasn’t deserved, they did misread the detour clue and forget their cargo. That probably cost them several minutes easy. That small blunder was enough to allow Reichen & Chip to reach the detour, complete the Basket choice, and beat them to the mat. Goodbye ladies, you made it back to the Undecided list. If you had survived a few more legs, who knows how high you could have made it.
The tally for this week is 2 Love, 1 Like, 2 Undecided, and 1 Hate. Have an opinion? Share it with me in the comments. I’d love to hear it.
