Episode 11.5 - Unbalanced Tasks
This was a fun leg with opportunity for teams to leap to the front or fall to the back. Leading to lots of gloating by some and self-flaggelation by others.
Danny & Oswald didn’t seem to fair too well hunting for their clue on the glacier. I’m not sure if it was because they didn’t understand the tools, or if they were getting confused by the multiple signals. As I mentioned in my last post, the strain is starting to get to these two. Let’s hope they can hold it together for another 8 weeks.
The promos made a big deal out of the rats, but other than Danny being repulsed by them, there wasn’t anything big about them. It’s interesting that the people of Mozambique have found such a novel use for their giant rats though.I had this pegged as a non-elimination leg about the time that Charla & Mirna started to fall behind at the Roadblock. It’s just our luck that when it seems like they might be eliminated, fate would step in to keep them around.
This leg ultimately came down to your choice of detour. If you picked the physical task, you were in the trailing pack. If you picked the manicures, you were in the lead pack. I think I was as suprised as Phil that Danny & Oswlad picked the physical task instead of the manicure.
Teri & Ian somehow got themselves all turned around and ended up at the wrong detour option than what they were looking for. When that happens, your best bet is to roll with the punches and take the option your at, which they did. It also helps to find a couple teenagers who see this as their chance to be on television. For some reason, I don’t think manicures normally cost 10 or 20 meticals.
Uchenna & Joyce forgot one of the rules of winning The Amazing Race: when looking for an address in a foreign country, always be sure to ask the locals for help. It worked for the other teams. And they might have been able to beat Eric & Danielle to the pitstop if they had. Fortunately for them, this was a non-elimination leg, but it’s going to be a high stakes leg for them next week.
The worst part of the episode was watching Charla & Mirna come in first for the leg. They sure have a high opinion of themselves. Just listen while Mirna tells you about it.
The best part of the episode was Oswald & Danny threatening to hug Phil and watching them chase him around the fort. Sometimes the simplest things are the funniest.
