All Stars Elimination Report: Oswald & Danny
Once again, Danny & Oswald find them selves out in 4th place. They ran a good race up until two weeks ago where they finally broke down and hit bottom. And they were never able to pull themselves back up.
Danny & Oswald made a strong showing early in the race, keeping a cool head and moving with cool efficiency. But the first cracks in their calm demeanor came on the icy slopes in Argentina when they started bickering with each other while trying to use the avalanche beacons. They were able to recover from this and continued to make a run for the top.
As the race wound through Africa and Europe, their calm demeanor continued to stay intact as they racked up the 1st place finishes. But the underlying tension finally broke out in Malaysia when they disagreed over the Detour choice. Once this stress was uncovered, they never managed to get past it.
This disagreement lead to Danny spending all their money finishing the Roadblock. Which meant they were short of money on the next leg and had to sell their Yield to the Dustin & Kandice and use it on Eric & Danielle. The trauma of having used the Yield weighed heavily on Oswald and led to a very poor showing in the leg and a last place finish. With a 30 minute penalty hanging over their heads, and a leg with very little chance to make up time, they were doomed as soon as they set foot in Guam.
But they were certainly one of more delightful teams to have on the race. They almost always had a kind word for the locals, and made sure to thank them for their help. It’s a shame they couldn’t hold it together in the end and edge out a less deserving team.
So long, and farewell. You’ll be missed next week.
