Chip & Kim: Winners of TAR5

Congratulations to Chip & Kim, the winners of The Amazing Race 5! You guys did a great job, and I enjoyed watching you during your race around the world. Which is more than can be said for some of the other teams.

Once again, the race came down to choosing the right flight. Chip & Kim kept on the phones looking for flights. They got a break when they found out the AA flight was delayed, and they took advantage of it. The funniest part, though, was watching Colin & Christie and Brandon & Nicole have their boarding of the United flight refused because their bags were on another flight. The FAA helps determine the winner.

I kind of wonder why the teams didn’t just mail the boxes home. Maybe they didn’t have time to get to a post office. Or didn’t want to spend the money on it. Previous racers have decided to ditch there junk in an effort to reduce their load for the race to the finish. How many airport trash cans have been filled by racers ditching their junk. Remember, one million dollars will buy plenty of backpacks and clothes to replace those left behind.

In closing, this was a fun race. Lots of tension. Lots of interesting teams, and a few extremely annoying teams. Lets hope that TAR6 is just as exciting and has just as happy a finish. I must say, that this is the first race in a while where I would have been happy with more than one of the teams finishing first.

Until next time!

TAR 5 Has Begun

Well, the 5th edition of The Amazing Race has begun. And what a beginning it was. Unfortunately, I am in the process of moving, so I was stuck watching the episode on a TV hooked up to a set of rabbit ears. As you can imagine, the reception wasn’t the best. Hopefully, we’ll have cable or satellite hooked up soon so I can watch the show in all its wonderful glory.

As for updates to this site, they will be sporadic. No leg by leg commentaries as I have done in years past. I simply have too much going on in life at the moment to be able to dedicate the time needed to transcribe the details of the legs.

I watched the final episode of the last race while sitting in the maternity ward of the hospital waiting for the birth of my daughter. She takes up a lot of time, as many of you probably know.

If anyone else would like to take over the duties of watching the races and compiling the gritty details of each leg, I’ll be more than happy to turn the reigns over to you. Just leave me a comment if you’re interested.

With all that said, I’ll probably still post a small entry for each week. But it won’t be much, probably just my quick thoughts.

Happy TAR watching!!
